After five years of construction, the bridge was opened in November 1979. There were repeated construction sites due to the high-maintenance nature of the structure and the need for regular inspection and protection of the suspension cables. Since the 2000s, it has become a permanent construction site; only four of its six lanes are in use, as it can no longer "support" the traffic load. Now it has been determined that the bridge must be demolished. Planning is underway, and it is already clear that it can only be demolished as a whole.
