Hiking
The hospital was built on the edge of the (old) town, near the breweries, and operated until 1986. Today the federal archive and a BRK daycare center are located in the oldest part of the building. Other buildings on the site that belonged to the hospital continued to be used, while others were demolished.

Cycling
The old city hospital was operated until 1986, when it was replaced by the clinic. The nursing school was opened in 1922, followed 30 years later by the children's nursing school. The nursing schools of the Bayreuth Clinic have actually been in the newer extension since 2006.
