Since 2021, a new forest of 2 hectares has been growing here, in the Warandebeek valley, consisting of native deciduous trees and hedges.
Two years later, of course, there is still no real "forest", but in the long term this will feel like an extension of the Breivelde domain, into which it will merge almost seamlessly.
The name "Vogelzang" partly refers to the family of the current baroness of the castle of Leeuwergem (Baroness Pauline de Villenfagne de Vogelsanck), who has owned the castle of Vogelsanck in Heusden-Zolder since the mid-18th century.
