In the silence a cricket sang unfindable - Alfons Jeurissen [writer]

The writer was born in 1874 in Hasselt, Fruitmarkt nr 22. A plaque on the front of the house refers to this. After his studies at the Sint-Jozefscollege in Hasselt, he started his career as a clerk at the tax office in 1894. In 1897 he became a customs officer and after his marriage in 1900 he settled in Lanaken. From 1911 he was transferred to Antwerp. From then on a real odyssey began, because between 1911 and 1914 he moved seven times. These circumstances were not conducive to his literary work.
