    Construction of the bridge structures:

The Uerdinger Bridge consists of several individual bridge structures. The roadway is on top of all parts of the bridge. The connecting bridge on the left bank of the Rhine in Uerdingen is an 88 meter long, three-span solid-wall girder structure with pendulum supports as pillars. This is followed by the actual river bridge, which is 500 meters long and 19.5 meters wide. On the opposite bank is the foreland bridge in Mündelheim on the right bank of the Rhine, a 270 meter long truss bridge with six spans.

The three-span power bridge is a strap bridge. In this type of suspension bridge, the supporting cable is not attached to the banks in anchor blocks, but rather connected to the stiffened longitudinal beams. The support cables on the Uerdinger Bridge are not ropes, but rather designed as profile beams. Viewed in the longitudinal direction, the belt bridge consists of two 40 meter high pylons with respective outriggers standing on each bank pillar. These two parts of the bridge are connected by a 50 meter long suspension beam over the middle of the stream.

The bridge's stiffened carriageway girder is a 7.25 meter high continuous truss girder, which has cross beams every 6.25 meters. This truss is suspended every 12.5 meters from the tension belts that run down the sides of the pylons using narrow posts. ..."
