The Temple of Mary, after the baptismal name of Princess Maria Hermenegild Esterházy, née Liechtenstein, was begun in 1804 according to plans by the architect and painter Charles de Moreau and completed a year later. The temple was given the name “Gloriette” during its construction and has retained it to this day.
The 1995 fire caused severe damage to the Gloriette. The renovation and revitalization of the Gloriette began in 1999 and was completed with a reopening in 2004.
Today the building houses the restaurant “Die Alm by Rabina”, a gourmet temple with top service, excellent food and wonderful views.
