There are a handful of buildings and an abandoned diving station, built for the excavation teams of the Uluburun shipwreck.

The Uluburun shipwreck is a Bronze Age vessel discovered in the 1980s lying of the coast at the cape of Uluburun. It dates to the 14th century BC (= late Bronze Age) and was most probably of Phoenician or Canaan origin. It carried a full cargo when it sank on it's way to Greece: copper ingots from Cyprus, tin ingots from mines in the Taurus mountains and Afghanistan, as well as 150 Canaanite jars filled with Terebinth resin from Palestine. Together with vast amounts of pottery, glas, faience, ebony, ivory, jewellrey, spices and other perishable goods, there are an indication of the enormous value the ship was carrying. Some of the 17 tons of goods excavated can be viewed in the museum in Bodrum.
