The bunker is a MG Bunker 37, probably of type A. Approximately 7,400 of these light bunkers for the Czechoslovakian national fortifications were built between 1936 and 1938. Their purpose, in conjunction with heavy bunkers (works), was to defend the national border, especially against Germany and Austria.
As a result of the Munich Agreement, the subsequent invasion of the German Wehrmacht and the annexation of the Sudetenland to the Third Reich, the bunkers came under German control without a fight.
