Here was once the castle / Veste of the noble family Hodenberg.
In the years 1244 - 1289 she was the first stronghold that was built near the Meissen in inaccessible terrain.
Today, the memorial stone reminds us, which was built in 1856 by Major General Friedrich von Hodenberg.
Immediately past the castle one led the army road from Bremen to Celle and Brunswick, as well as Hanover and the south of Germany. From the castle piles have been found in the Meiße up to recent times, so here is a mill, by its traffic jams the surroundings of the castle could be submerged for better attachment and also have been a bridge. The Rodenberger document book further reports: "The location of the castle in the low, swampy MeißeBrüche served mainly to their strength. But it was, as the remaining remnants show, also surrounded by ramparts and ditches, enclosing a space about 372 feet in length and 228 feet in width. Within the same one can still find, among other stones and masonry, the precipitous and brick foundations of a strong 37-foot-diameter tower whose walls were 9 feet in diameter and 19 feet in diameter. To the west of this main yard, also on the titmouse, there must have been an atrium, separated from it by a ditch, but there were some piles and planks in the lowland, probably remnants of a connection between the two yards.
