Protestant Church (1864) – Wolfskehlen/Riedstadt 🚴‍♂️

The existence of a church building since 1313 is documented in the presentation and endowment documents of the Lords of Wolfskehlen. Around 1490, Christina von Wolfskehlen had the Wolfskehlen altar painted and donated it to the church "out of pious heartfelt emotion and the increase of divine culture." This altar was sold to the Hessian State Museum in Darmstadt in 1821, where it can still be viewed today. In 1530, Eberhard von Gemmingen introduced the Reformation. Since 1536, the congregation has been Evangelical Lutheran. Reconstruction and consecration of the new church after the fire of 1862. In the spring of 1864, the restoration of the church began. This involved demolishing a portion of the nave walls, where it was believed they had suffered damage from the fire, particularly between the lower windows, as these were to be raised, and re-lining their pointed arches. The church wall was also raised by approximately 32 inches. In 1864, work on the church and tower continued diligently. In 1866, the church was officially reopened...
