❤️🤍❤️The Campen lighthouse is a steel truss tower.

At 65.30 m high, it is the highest lighthouse in Germany🇩🇪.

Built in 1889, its beacon has since guided ships safely past Borkum into the mouth of the Ems.

The construction is similar to that of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and, like this one with its framework made of riveted iron parts, was an architectural novelty at the time.

There are 308 steps up a spiral staircase inside to the gallery of the tower,

On clear days you will be rewarded with a view that stretches all the way to Borkum🏖 and over the Krummhörn to Emden. And so it can also serve as a guide for the large ships that have to find their way past Borkum into the mouth of the Ems.

An information pavilion next to the tower provides information about the “East Frisian Eiffel Tower”.
