Before the start of the battle, Napoleon inspected his troops here. A beautiful spectacle must have taken place here. When the battle came to an end, Napoleon surveyed the terrain from here. He hoped to turn the course of the battle with a final offensive. Napoleon ordered his Guards to launch the final attack by attacking Wellington's right flank from here via the land road. However, this turned out to be in vain. Later that evening, with the French defeated and on the run, the two great Allied army commanders, Wellington and Blücher (Prussia), met at this farm.

In this farmhouse, Wellington and General Blücher are said to have shaken hands on the evening after the victory at the Battle of Waterloo. A commemorative plaque in honor of the French medical corps also hangs on the farmhouse.
