The curious name derives from the sharp shape (colle acu-to) of the hill where, just below the top, the sanctuary stands.
The name is very ancient, and attests to settlements since the Bronze Age.Since time immemorial, perhaps even on the ruins of a Roman altar, a small sanctuary existed here, much frequented by pilgrims from the valley who venerated the "Madonna dei Dolori", culminating with the solemn procession on the second Sunday of November with the faithful leaving from Soligo or from Farra.
It also went up to encourage crops and an abundant harvest.Between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, abandonment and ruin.
In the 1930s, for a vote, the Bottari De Castello family had the little church built, accompanied by the bell tower, as we now see them, in very dignified and tasteful neo-romantic forms, with a splendid fresco in the external portico.
In 1932 the sacred complex was consecrated and the relics of Sant'Emilio were placed.
All around a riot of vineyards.
