The Rhine Delta and Lake Constance are one of the most important winter resting areas for thousands of bird species. The favorable climatic conditions and the nutrient-rich shallow water areas allow many bird species to spend the winter and spring here. With a bit of luck you can observe rare species of birds and butterflies. The Rhine Delta is the oldest nature reserve in Vorarlberg; it was placed under protection in 1947. A few years ago it was even included in the list of European protected areas (Natura 2000).
