"The largest drinking water dam in the Siegerland is located in the southwest of the Rothaar Mountains in Netphen-Brauersdorf. It is a popular excursion destination for residents and guests of the region.
The largest dam in Siegerland, which went into operation in 1972, is now not only a habitat for rare animals, but also a popular local recreation destination. The surroundings of the dam offer the attentive observer extraordinary insights into nature and local wildlife in all seasons. Every now and then you can observe unusual bird species such as cormorants, goosanders, gray herons, little grebes, tufted ducks, grebes, black storks or ospreys.

The 10 km long, asphalted circular route is ideal for hiking, inline skating, jogging, walking and cycling. The visitor is rewarded with wonderful views of the dam. Numerous benches along the path invite you to linger. Information boards and diagrams explain how the dam was created and the life of the animals and plants in their natural environment.

After a lovely stay in nature, Landhaus Heinrichshöh is a great place to stop for a cozy break. Visitors interested in technology can take a look inside the dams on regular tours. In addition to information about the water balance, details about the construction of the Obernau Dam are also provided."
