The Bärenfels is a station on the so-called “Bear Trail”. Don't worry, there are no bears in the region, the name comes from the historical use of the Rosenwald as a hunting ground for the sovereigns, who were the Dukes of Palatinate-Zweibrücken for centuries.

The Bärenfels is the second highest point in the rose forest. Until the 1990s you could see the water of the Bostalsee from Bärenfels.
