    The road winds mercilessly up the mountain in steep switchbacks to the pass at 1,400 meters. This is a truly strenuous effort. Lake Maggiore is constantly in view, only the perspective changes with the altitude. Fortunately, there's very little traffic here, so road biking is a lot of fun if you're in good shape.
