Twelve alkaline Glauber's salt springs with water temperatures between 39 and 73 degrees Celsius are used for medicinal purposes in Karlovy Vary. The mineral salts are responsible for the healing properties of the water, especially for digestive problems. The spring water, which also has different levels of carbon dioxide, is used for baths, but it is also drunk. Five to seven cups a day are recommended. The production site of the famous Becherovka liqueur is often referred to as the thirteenth Karlovy Vary medicinal spring. But that's another story...
