Until around 200 years ago, the rock on which the roebuck stands was still solid
connected to the mountain behind it, the Mühlberg. Then the mountain was blown up for the railway line, that's how it is
free-standing rock was created. The metal (bronze) roebuck was erected by Mr. Panthel in memory of a real roebuck that is said to have jumped onto this rock after the railway was built.
