Three beautiful historical boundary stones have been grouped together in the Nieder-Erlenbach green belt on the Erlenbach.
Two stones from 1785 show the double coat of arms of Kurmainz and Hessen-Kassel on the front and the Frankfurt eagle on the back. One boundary stone bears the Frankfurt eagle on two sides and, on the third, the Teutonic Order cross and below it "CC" for "Commende Cloppenheim (Deutscher Orden)".

In another source, I read that the first C does not stand for Commende, but for Castnerei.

Hello Andrea, it's great that you're interested in the boundary stones. Yes, the stone with CC was described incorrectly in various books and websites for a long time. "Castnerei Cloppenheim" is definitely correct and the current state of research. However, it will take some time until this is changed in various cases. This is also related to the revision of the overview of all boundary stone lapidaries in Hesse on grenzmale-hessen.de, which I manage together with a colleague.
