If you don't want to walk back down the stairs from Freudenburg that you had to climb up with difficulty, then there is the Echoweg as an alternative as a way back to Freudenberg. From the back of the castle go left (north) until you reach the first junction to the left. There is also a signpost “Echoweg” here. The path is not particularly well maintained, but in my opinion it is better than the way back via the stairs.
