The parish church in the center of the village is dedicated to Saint Walburga. This, a sister of the missionaries Wunibald and Willibald, was born in Essex / England in 710. Orphaned at an early age, she was sent to a monastery in Dorset and received a good education there. Following the example of her brothers and her uncle Boniface, she came to southern Germany as a missionary. After the death of her brother Wunibald in 761, she took over the management of the Heidenheim men's monastery and shortly afterwards a women's monastery was founded there. She died in 779.

Walburga is considered the patron saint against diseases and epidemics, famine, bad harvests and is the patron saint of women who have recently given birth.
