About Gero

Just easy! The Rhine route is finally open again under the Leverkusen bridge. Thank you very much! Then finally crossed the ship bridge of the old Wupper estuary. When you drive through, the park of Benrath looks like an English-style forest. Never seen anything like this! (well, maybe across from the Roseninsel on Lake Starnberg ... 😉) Doll. The slope on the Rhine between Benrath and the Rhine ferry is very picturesque, if you can lift your eyes from all the jerking 😁 ... Zons looked particularly peaceful and gentle today. On the way back, drove elegantly past the rain - good timing, luck. A really nice and varied home-on-the-Rhine tour!

On such a hot day just say hello to the Rhine ... Enjoyed the view of the Rhine from the "backdrop" in Wesseling and then can't resist the fantastic home-made cake in the Uedorf café. Great view on the way back to the height of Langel! Nice...

The switchbacks up to Hohensyburg are still my favorite climb in NRW ... and then the view down !! - The north side of Lake Harkort is currently closed. As a result, we got to know a nice route on the Hagen side, even picturesque with the weather, especially the view of the weather 😄. The ascent via Volmarstein to Grundschöttel even makes some passages in Bergischen seem cozy! 😥 We did not yet know the old coal railway line and the following north railway line. We loved it. Funky! Anyone who knows the route knows that. Therefore, on the occasion until the end in Vohwinkel. The rain didn't bother us - it was time for the trees to get some water!

An all round beautiful day! Robert's last tour had given me the idea to drive over Flittard again. This led us to the former monastery in Dünnwald with St. Nicholas Church. So loving and peaceful! Including sound installation (excellent sung choral music). I also wanted to get to know the forest between Dünnwald and Schildgen. Beautiful! The forest has its very own atmosphere and welcomes you as gently as a fleece pullover 😊 The Dhünn between Altenberg and the dam was at least as enchanting! In front of the dam - as the saying goes - "a steep stretch" 😅 and immediately afterwards there is a great forest mountain route. The following hill is called "Neschen" - memories of the Reschenpass last year came up 😁 ... Above then the spontaneous invitation to visit a private classic car garage! 👍

From the route and elevation profile more like a road bike tour ... again out on a new path and seen Buchforst. It was pleasantly quiet in the Königsforst, beautiful as far as Untereschbach! Then a nasty climb, phew. But a great view and the ice in Overath was already deserved (and highly recommended!) On the Agger, the route was a bit boring, so it was always long by the cars, so down to the river - actually closed ... but so nice there. We also remembered the climb from Ründeroth - and behind it there are apple and pear trees! This time with a photo. Nevertheless, we were pretty up in Gummersbach. But the view of fries at the Aggertalsperre helped us up there 😊 And the following Genkeltalsperre was the highlight for me! This is how we imagine Sweden ...

Grevenbroich. I like the sound of the place name. Now we finally went there - and got to know a new beautiful exit from Cologne. Till I really great! But the part afterwards on Venloer Straße can still be improved ... well, you get along quickly on the cycle path along the road and see Venloer Straße with different eyes. The mountain stage rewarded us with the three linden trees (sad-romantic story) and a sweet village before the finish.
Great views on the way back, disappointed at the place marked "Battlefield": no board, nothing, and it turns out afterwards that the famous Battle of Worringen was not here, but east of Neusser Strasse. But the break and these villages in the north of Cologne are very nice for that! We had fun. And Grevenbroich is highly recommended !!

Today we felt like a smaller tour. Since we believed that we had already grazed almost everything in the vicinity of Cologne, I had the idea to simply approach a previously known destination a little differently. We were blown away by what we discovered! The journey to Knechtsteden took a correspondingly long time. And the return trip was a quick taxi on the beloved Rhine route from Dormagen to Niehl. But what is not to be seen if you just drive 200m left or right! 😀
