We were actually looking forward to a cloudless day ... a shame it was so hazy. Free travel for that - at the beginning a new dangling in Deutz, then again through the strange Hahnwald and the refinery. The Üdorf café is really a highlight. And especially from Mehlem it is really nice to drive 😊

Wonderfully free travel today thanks to the November weather! Komoot showed us a new way to get to the Alter Deutzer Postweg. Typically Cologne: once you know the route, it makes sense and is fun 😁 Beware of the construction site (of course already reported as a route problem!) At the allotment garden. The ice cream parlor in Lohmar is unfortunately taking a winter break. Then a wonderful route to the Wahnbachtalsperre, and in no time you are at the beautiful victory!

The second attempt, this time planned more precisely. What looks great on the PC screen can in reality be a bit tough - keyword jerky slope. But in any case, this time nicer ways to Hilden! Personally, I found the "steepest main route in Europe until 1981" impressive. And the Neandertal and everything from there is simply absolutely beautiful 😀 It is very impressive how considerate and thoughtful all road users from the Mettmann district were. Whether in the car, on foot or by bike! It can be so beautiful ... 🤗🍁

What could be nicer than being on a bike on a golden October day - to a destination that you like? The route from Hitdorf to Ratingen can still be improved ... But Hilden's market square surprised us. Very free and cozy. And finally, after beautiful side streets, there was a railway line as a discovery, before the beautiful Ruhr greeted us at Kettwig. Just a nice day 🍁😀

Zons is even more beautiful when the weather is nice ... Pumpkin fields on the way there ... and then a couple of paths that we didn't know yet. The reference to the highlight "through the bush" regarding the drivability probably only refers to the short section where it goes across the bushes before Alkenrath. There was no getting through - so on via the cycle path network. Before that, the section is great!

Attention, the passage between Ahlen and the Sülztal is really not passable! Even mountain bikers would tear their clothes and skin in the blackberry tendrils. In addition, at the beginning it goes through private property. Why did komoot not guide us down the road a little later ... Otherwise a tour with a lot of bike paths along the road, but the climbs are very pleasant. We had fun, even if komoot went back and forth in the meantime 😆

Actually we wanted to do a tour of a friend. Then a call in Dellbrück that we have to go to Ehrenfeld. But since it was day of the bike tour and there was still enough time, we quickly rescheduled: via Kurtekotten and Wiesdorf back to the other side of the Rhine. However, out of respect, I would look for a way around the Longericher cemetery next time ... 🙄 We have finally investigated whether you can drive a way out of the Niehler Egg at the dog school. Result: if you are very fond of nettles and ride a fully MTB and can't read "Passage forbidden", it's ... a shame, because the cul-de-sac on the other side of the rails is very pretty! As is Bickendorf, at least when the sun is shining. I agree. It's amazing how many sides Cologne has!
