In 1782, Joanna Josephina ordered the castle to be renovated, because it no longer met the taste of the time. The castle was largely demolished and rebuilt, with only the part containing the reception hall from 1615 retained. The castle was built in a Louis XVI style, with an emphasis on symmetry. More than forty years later, in 1824, the middle section and the right wing of the castle were demolished due to serious subsidence.
