The laveria La Marmora is a former processing plant for zinc ore, which was mined in the Iglesiente until the 1970s. It is one of the greatest industrial monuments in the Iglesiente. There are other witnesses to mining in Nebida, and there is an old shaft above the town. In the area there is an old mine "s'acquq resi", which was in operation until the 1980s.

Those seeking the breath of history will find it here: not in frescoes, not in display cases, but in broken arches, rusty stone, and the shimmering line where the sea kisses the cliffs. The Laveria La Marmora doesn't simply stand on the slope above the water—it stands against time. Ruin, memorial, gateway to the past. And: a different kind of vantage point.

The walls that once sorted zinc ore now filter light. The sea flickers through glassless windows; the wind has taken over. Where machines once rattled, the waves now rush through the open walls. Nature hasn't defeated the processing plant, but—like a patient restorer—has restored it to a new state: less useful, but all the more dignified.

Through a round brick window, one gazes like a porthole into a world that fluctuates between beauty and drudgery. Those who stood here toiled. Those standing here today are silent. And amazed.

The 419 steps of the old mine are behind them, the open Mediterranean is in front of them – and somewhere in between, a feeling that can't quite be named: awe, perhaps, or the suspicion that the landscape itself remembers everything. The sweat, the hope, the weight of the ore.

The Laveria is not a monument in the classic sense – it explains nothing, it doesn't narrate. It is simply there. And that is enough.
