Information about the church:
The current church was built as a three-aisled Romanesque basilica at the end of the 11th century. It was built at about the same time as the Sindelfingen collegiate church of St. Martin. The northern aisle no longer exists. The tower was added in the middle of the 14th century and the choir was renovated in 1515.
The church contains the oldest inscription in the Böblingen district. It can be found in an arched field (tympanum) above the outer door on the southeast corner of the church and dates from before 1200. The inscription mentions the church saint Nicomedes. The historian Roman Janssen suspects that the previous church in Hildrizhausen was named after Nicomedes in the 8th century. Nicomedes is considered a martyr from the 1st century in Rome.
