The Kolonnenweg is part of the inner-German border installations on the side of the former GDR. It was made of uniform, very weather-resistant perforated slabs (pavement slabs made of concrete), which are mostly overgrown with plants and are pretty firmly attached to the ground. Here it led directly behind the houses. Bavaria was only about 50 meters further on. That's why a wall was even built here.

It's hard to believe, but this piece of wall is still in its original state.
Görsdorf is a small farming village and belongs to the municipality of Schalkau. A border wall was built around the former border town in 1980, which served, among other things, as a screen. The remains of the former high
security system to be found. Today, the former border guard only serves as a reminder of the past and has another important function: as an animal hotel, it offers butterflies, insects and bats shelter and a place to stay.
