Distinctive tower in Ravensburg. The water-filled city moat, front gate and kennel are no longer preserved. The 36-meter-high Untertor was built in 1363 as part of the city fortifications and was additionally secured by a city moat, bridge and front gate until the 19th century.
Like the Frauentor, it has a pitch nose that served to ward off the enemy. On the south side you can still see the little gate that led to the wooden battlement that ran around the city on the inside of the city wall.
