Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt is an extensive estate of approximately 900 hectares and has been in the hands of the Van Verschuer family since the 18th century. It has a rich history, which began in 1129 when the Mariënwaerdt Abbey was founded by Norbertine monks. The abbey has experienced several destructions, including during the Eighty Years' War. After the abbey was closed during the French occupation, the estate fell into private hands. The Notenlaan is a well-known aspect of Mariënwaerdt. This long, stately avenue with nut trees on both sides is one of the beautiful access roads to the estate. It is a photogenic place, especially in spring and autumn.Mariënwaerdt has developed over the years into a versatile estate. Organic farming is practiced, and the estate produces its own products, ranging from cheese to jam and biscuits, which are sold in the estate shop and elders. In addition, it is a popular location for events, including the annual Estate Fair, and offers various options for business meetings and weddings.Visitors to Mariënwaerdt can enjoy the peace and nature, walk on the many paths, or visit the pancake house or one of the other eateries on the estate. In short, Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt is a combination of historic charm, natural beauty and contemporary entrepreneurship in a beautiful part of the Dutch Betuwe.#WandelTotaal
