The sheep pond is a pond created artificially several hundred years ago. The forest Espich, bordering on the eastern end, has through him extended wetlands which provide a home to many species of animals. He is said to have preserved the name Schafteich, because a shepherd drowned in him who wanted to rescue one of his sheep from the water.
