😎The New Steinbacher Pond is located about two kilometers north of Zorge. It was built in 1780 and once supplied the water wheels of the Zorger Hütte. Around 1780, the order situation at the smelter in Zorge improved significantly, so that a second blast furnace could be put into operation. However, the driving water previously provided by the Kunzental pond was no longer sufficient. Therefore, the New Steinbacher Pond was built at short notice, which is now simply called “New Pond”.
In 1808 the pond dam broke, but it was immediately rebuilt. In addition to the pounding and blowing works of the new blast furnace at the Zorger Hütte, the water from the New Steinbacher Pond also powered other water wheels located further down the valley from various mills and huts in Zorge. The body of water has a total length of around 200 and a width of around 70 meters. Swimming and fishing are prohibited in the New Pond. The outflow at the eastern end of the approximately 90 meter long pond dam feeds the "Zorger Waterfall".

The pond was created, among other things, to feed several water mills.
