As early as the beginning of June 1632, roaming troops of imperial mercenaries attacked the area around Bayreuth and plundered Emtmannsberg. A handover of Wunsiedel to the commander of Kemnath, Colonel von Schaumberg, could only be prevented by the hastily assembled committee companies from Hof, Münchberg and Weißenstadt.
