Fischer was formerly a village that lay on both sides of the Eger and the two districts were connected by a bridge. When in the 19th century the Eger became the border between the Kingdom of Bavaria and Austria - Hungary, the village was divided into Bavarian fishermen and Bohemian fishermen.
After the Second World War, the eastern side became a restricted border area, the Bohemian part of the village was demolished and the bridge destroyed. Today you only see foundation walls.
Lately, information boards have been set up that point to the past. The sour well has been recast and you can enjoy the water of the ferric acid again.
