Best Mountain Bike Rides to Archey Rigg Bridleway

Tips

  • This is everything you want a moor top bridleway to be. It turns open, narrow, rocky, fast, occasionally thrutchy - and yes, sometimes soggy. But there's a real 'top of the world' feeling which is hard to beat.

  • And in December, completly isolated with a really satisfying noise as your front tyre breaks through the ice on the puddles. Glorious!

  • Running east to west the first part is a grassy slog but it’s well worth it as it turns into heather lined, fast single track leading back towards Catton. Doable on a gravel bike with no issues.
