The Franciscan monastery in Warendorf existed from 1628 to 2008, with an interruption due to the Prussian Kulturkampf. The Franciscans were heads of the Laurentianum high school in Warendorf. At times the monastery housed the novitiate and a religious study of the Saxon Franciscan Province (Saxonia); Warendorf was twice the seat of the Provincial of Saxonia.
