Cycling

The Schnappkorb (snatch basket) on the Kinzig River was an instrument of punishment for minor offenses in the Middle Ages. The basket is said to have originally been made of wickerwork. If the baker's bread weighed too little, the baker would be baptized as a deterrent. This meant that the baker would be submerged in the Kinzig River while sitting in the Schnappkorb, which was attached to a gallows frame. Field thieves, wood thieves, and poachers were also punished in this way.
