They require little care and are rarely aggressive, but in the event of an unexpected confrontation, reserved behavior is recommended. If a sufficient distance is kept, the animals will generally not be alarmed by human presence.
At the entrance gates to the meadow you are expressly asked to keep sufficient distance, especially in the spring - when the cows are pregnant.
Highland cattle also feed on plants that many other cattle species ignore.
