The Roman aqueduct is divided into two parts, the eastern strand leads through the mountain. On the back side, the Romans had built several mills one behind the other down the mountain, all powered one after the other by the same water. The western strand of the aqueduct turns sharply to the right before the mountain. It seems to be the older part after the more massive building material. The eastern part is also better preserved and probably continued towards Arles.
