Beautiful view across the Pegnitz River to the Henkerssteg (Executioner's Bridge). The Henkerssteg (Executioner's Bridge) is a covered wooden bridge over the Pegnitz River. It connects the Hangman's Tower with the flea market and the St. Lorenz district. It owes its name to the executioner of Nuremberg, who lived in the adjacent tower from the 16th to the 19th century. In the Middle Ages, he used the bridge to enter the city discreetly. The current bridge was rebuilt in 1954 after extensive war damage and is now a popular photo opportunity and part of Nuremberg's Historic Mile.
