Château des Comtes de Hamal in Vierves-sur-Viroin Based on a fortress and a farm of medieval origin, the emblematic building spreads its slender silhouette over the landscape of Vierves-sur-Viroin - private property. The ‘Comtes de Hamal’, who owned the estate between 1567 and 1852, extensively renovated the old medieval fortress and farm and reduced the defensive functions of the building to a basic level.
The facade of the house, in classical style, is pierced with large windows. This “modern” house is flanked by the so-called Attila tower, whose bulbous roof pushes the castle into the landscape, while the large windows offer new lookouts.
In the second half of the 19th century, work on pleasure continued: the two courtyards were joined together to form a large terrace overlooking the valley.
