The Jossa is a 32 km long river in the Spessart that runs in the Main-Kinzig district in southern Hesse. It rises in the Lettgenbrunn district of Jossgrund and flows into the middle reaches of the Sinn from the right in the Jossa district of the Sinntal community. It is a low mountain stream rich in fine material, silicate.

The name consists of the old word Jasa and Old High German aha. They mean showers or precipitation and water. The river name was transferred to the towns Burgjoß and Marjoß (both originally Jazaha) as well as to the later founded Jossa and gave its name to the Joßgrund district, the Jossgrund community and the former Jossatal community.

The Jossaquelle is located in the middle of Lettgenbrunn. It is a small, contained spring into which the Villbach flows, which is often viewed as the upper reaches and arises about two kilometers further northwest near Villbach. However, this often has no water in summer, so the real water flow begins at the Jossa spring. The spring was used to supply Lettgenbrunn with drinking water until 1951. On September 16, 2007, the redesign of the Jossa spring was completed and a natural sandstone with a reference to the source was placed.
