Mountain Biking Highlight (Segment)
The donkey path is not just a path, but a piece of Spessart history. It has probably been around for around 2,000 years. It got its name from the donkeys that transported the salt from Bad Orb here. This historic trade route is 111 kilometers long and is now ideal for hiking and mountain biking, which is why it is also part of several official bike routes.

@Thomas: You're wrong, though... this is NOT the start of the historical donkey trail! It runs from Schluechtern to Großheubach:

A very nice section coming from Alsberg along the donkey path, which follows the Spessart biking route 9 to the Spessartbogen at this point.

Finally a little bit more than a forest road. The trail is also part of Tours 9 and 11 of spessartbiken.de.

The donkey trail does not start here, but continues. The donkey trail is part of a 111 km long stretch and begins in Schluechtern and ends at Miltenberg / Großheubach.
Some beautiful passages through the forest follow, which are recommended. This section is also part of SpessartBiken Route 9 "Alsberger Blick".
