Fool's Fountain, Bad Buchau
The local fool's fountain is located between the collegiate church and the polygymnasium, on the so-called Le-Lion-d'Angers-Platz in Bad Buchau. It was created in 1997 by the Bad Buchau fools' guild. It is based on a design by Heinz Steinacher. In 2007 it had to be completely renovated.
The six-sided fountain is made of stone. A mask of the local carnival characters is attached to each side:
Moorochs
Bittern (bird)
Weller (fish)
water lily
Riedmeckeler (peat cutter)
Gallows bird
The fountain is crowned by a life-size figure of “Father Federsee”. This is an individual figure from the Bad Buchau fool's guild.
