The Hohe Straußberg is a 1933 meter high mountain in Schwangau, in the Ammergau Alps, southeast of Füssen in the German state of Bavaria. Adjacent mountains are the Tegelberg (1881 m) towards Füssen in the northwest, the Säuling (2047 m) in the southwest and the Hochplatte (2082 m) to the east. Other nearby peaks are the Ahornspitze (1784 m), the Straußbergköpfl (1767 m) and the Niedere Straußberg (1877 m). The south or southwest flank of the Hohe Straußberg slopes down to the Bleckenau and the Pöllatschlucht.

Because of the wet spring, the last part just before the summit, where you first get a view to the south, is quite green and heavily overgrown. The path is almost impossible to see there. When you climb up, you can still see the footsteps as holes in the tall grass.

Now for the problem: if you miss this turn to the left towards the north when you descend, it becomes dangerous. The only thing you can do is go back and start again. I only managed that with GPS!

Since this seems to happen more often, you can see third-party tracks in this increasingly steep nothingness, which tempts you in this direction.

My tip would be to remember these places well and mark them if necessary. Or descend in the first part using navigation
