One of the few remains of the devastated town of Helmsdorf, which was forcibly relocated and demolished in 1958.
An "industrial sedimentation plant" (IAA) of Wismut, a kind of sedimentation basin for radioactive contaminated sludge from uranium ore processing in Crossen, was built on the site.
