"Mothership" is a sculpture commissioned in 1998 as part of the Dun Laoghaire Drainage Scheme's Percent for Art initiative. Situated in Newtownsmith, between Dun Laoghaire and Glasthule, this artwork has become an iconic and beloved piece. Its size and shape encourage interaction, allowing visitors to climb into the body of the shell, making it an engaging and memorable installation. The "Mothership" sculpture was created by artist Rachel Joynt.
