If you follow the trail upstream from the Headstone viaduct, past the weir, the river gets shallower and rougher. There are a couple of sections of rapids which are fun to watch.

River island very impressive especially as it was high and fast flowing, paths were very muddy and sometimes blocked by fallen trees
