The first documented mention as the original parish church of the Main loop was in 1158. Around 1330, a religious order-like community of women (Beguines) settled there and was dissolved again in 1422. The current late Gothic church was rebuilt in the 15th century. In 1642, a Rosary Brotherhood was founded. The interior of the church was last redesigned in 2002.
