Teßmannsdorf is a small town in the municipality of "Am Salzhaff". Teßmannsdorf is located in a quiet and idyllic location on the south-east bank of the Salzhaff, right next to the "Teßmannsdorfer Tannen" nature reserve.

The Salzhaff is a bay in the Baltic Sea that is separated from the open sea by the Wustrow Peninsula. With its salt marshes and associated bird sanctuaries, it is a very special coastal landscape. The flora and fauna is unique and the salt marshes are recognized as a European bird sanctuary.

The shallow waters here are a popular starting point for surfers and sailors. The water temperature is on average 2 - 4 degrees Celsius higher than in the Baltic Sea.
