The Church of San Luca was founded in 1188 by Oberto Spinola and declared a noble parish of the Spinola and Grimaldi families. Rebuilt in Baroque style between 1626 and 1650, based on a design attributed to Bartolomeo Bianco, it suffered serious damage during the bombings of 1943, requiring major restoration.

The Church of San Luca is a Catholic place of worship located in the square of the same name in the historic center of Genoa in the Maddalena district. The interior decoration and artwork by Domenico Piola, Filippo Parodi and Grechetto are among the highest achievements of the Genoese Baroque.
